Things to do in Harz

The Harz is a highland area in northern Germany located across parts of Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia with its highest summit, the Brocken, at 1141.1 meters.

The Harz region is 110 kilometers long, 35 kilometers wide and includes 2226 square kilometers. Its most important peaks are the Brocken, the Heinrichshöhe, the Königsberg, the Acker-Bruchberg and the Achtermannshöhe. The Harz National Park hosts rare animals as the dipper, the black stork, the peregrine falcon, the European wildcat and especially the Eurasian lynx.

In the Harz you can discover many spa towns or visit the different mining museums. Enjoy winter sports as Nordic skiing and cross-country skiing or discover the whole territory by walking in summer. As a great number of rivers originates in the Harz, you can explore canoeing or kayaking, as well as many other outdoor activities!
