A typically warm Tunisian welcome is waiting when you board your catamaran for this morning cruise around the island of Djerba. It's known locally as the ‘island of dreams', partly due to its deep and ancient history that goes back to Phoenician and Roman times. Plus, it's partly because of the natural beauty of the island – which you'll get to see up-close.
You'll head out in the morning, cruising past Djerba's sugar-white beaches that're dotted with green palms jutting out along the shoreline. There's heaps to see while you're sprawled out on the nets at the front of the catamaran, from secluded coves and fishing villages dotted with whitewashed houses to beaches that stretch to the horizon and fancy waterfront resorts.
Your captain will set a leisurely pace as you skim through the Mediterranean, allowing plenty of time to drop anchor and dive into the sea for a swim. Keep an eye out for native sea turtles, and, depending on the season, you could even catch a glimpse of a few dolphins that live in this patch of the Med.
