Take a journey below the surface heading deep into one of Italy's most famous caves. Approx one hour drive away from Ancona the karst Frasassi Caves: two huge grottos that lead to a labyrinth of underground rooms. More than 13 kilometers of caves particularly well-endowed with stalacties and stalagmites the Frasassi Caves consist of a number of named chambers including: "Great Cave of the Wind" "Room of the Candles" "Ancona Abyss" and "Room of the Infinite". The Caves discovered in 1971 has been used also to conduct experiments in chronobiology. You will have approximately two hours to visit the caves and free time. Not far from the famous Frasassi Caves in the evocative scenery of the Gola della Rossa and Frasassi Regional Natural Park stands out the imposing Abbey of San Vittore delle Chiuse one of the most important Romanesque style churches in the Marche region dating back to 1060-1080. During this tour and just next to the Abbey you will also have the chance to discover the Speleo-Paleontological Museum where you can see among the various discoveries of the Museum the find of a prehistoric fish known as Ittiosaurus.
