With a combination of activities that include a dogsledding tour and a visit to an ice hotel, this is the ultimate Nordic tour which will take you through the beautiful Arctic wilderness of the Tamok valley.
Your tour will start with a 90-minute scenic drive in a comfortable coach which will take you to the Tromso Ice Domes. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by your guide who will direct you to your first activity of the day, which will be either the husky sledding tour or the ice domes visit depending on the weather conditions.
The dogyard is located a mere 10-minute drive away from the ice domes, tucked inside a valley and surrounded by mountains and forests, offering endless possibilities for exploration. Dog sledding is traditionally used for travel in the Arctic. It´s an adventurous activity and you will love the amazing feeling of leading a dog sled with happy and strong Alaskan huskies. Starting from the kennel, you will slide into the snow-covered valley of Tamokdalen, between trees and over hills. Your guides will provide you with all the equipment you need and will teach you how to use the sled, so you don't need to have prior experience. You will be sharing the sled with another guest, and you will be able to rotate along the way so you can both have the opportunity to drive.
The Tromso Ice Domes structure is built every year with the approach of the Polar Night. This piece of art made of snow and ice is a true reflection of the bond that is created between man and nature and will take your breath away. This is much more than an ice hotel or an ice art museum, and you will have the chance to learn all about it during a guided tour of the structure. Your guide will talk about the construction process, the impact of the snow on the survival of Arctic animals as well as some Arctic history.
