A quarter of the town's structures date from the colonial period up to the 18th century. So rich is its architectural heritage that UNESCO listed it in 1999 because of its authenticity. And to round off your visit, you'll get to mingle with locals at the weekly market.From here, you'll head to the crescent-shaped beach of Las Teresitas, complete with palm trees. The scenery changes dramatically next, as we journey through the laurel forest of Las Mercedes en route to Taganana. This whitewashed hamlet cascades down a slope in Anaga Rural Park. Here, you'll enjoy a lunch made from locally sourced ingredients in a family-run restaurant. The afternoon features a scenic drive through the volcanic Anaga Mountains – a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve – stopping at the 360-degree viewpoint at Pico del Inglés and at Cruz del Carmen viewpoint.

You'll have free time to explore the centre, before a visit to the rural museum of El Capitan for a look into the history of the town. We'll end the day stopping by Vilaflor. Perched on the slopes of Mt Teide, the views are simply wonderful. Here, we'll enjoy a winery tour and a sip of some award-winning vino in a family-owned bodega.
