Akamas Peninsula National Park is not for your average Cyprus visitor. Those who go to Akamas Peninsula National Park in northwest Cyprus tend to seek more than just the ordinary beach holiday — they want to explore a mountainous nature reserve characterised by wildlife diversity, secluded beaches, clear waters, and free from human development.
A hotspot for biodiversity in Cyprus due to its relatively inaccessible location, Akamas Peninsula National Park is home to a wide range of flora and fauna. If you’re lucky, you might be able to spot the Paphos Blue (Glaucopsyche paphos), a small butterfly that is endemic to Cyprus. Other points of interest in the area include the Baths of Aphrodite, where according to myth the goddess Aphrodite used to bathe, the Blue Lagoon cove, and Lara Beach, a secluded beach that is known for its resident sea turtles.
