Christmas market at Parc de la Mar and guided nativity scene tour in Palma
Christmas in Palma means nativity scenes, decked-out market stalls and a city centre getting into the festive mood. You'll head into Palma for a guided walk exploring its traditional belenes – elaborate nativity scenes that are a big part of Christmas celebrations in Spain. Local guide Juan says, “For lots of locals, visiting the belenes is part of Christmas in Palma. It's something families do together, often returning to their favourites each December. The smaller scenes and characters are part of the experience, rather than everything being focused on the stable.” From Plaza Espana, you'll walk to Sant Antoniet, a historic church hosting a Christmas belen, before continuing towards Cort to see another. Then, it's on through the centre to Carrer Conquistador, Plaza de la Reina and Avenida Antoni Maura. By now, Palma's Christmas lights will be illuminating the streets, so there's plenty to take in as you make your way towards Parc de la Mar and the waterfront. Here, you'll have time to check out the Christmas market at your own pace. You can browse the stalls for gifts and seasonal bites like churros, roasted chestnuts or other sweet treats, with a hot chocolate or warming cup of mulled wine on the side. Then, you'll meet back with the group for the return journey to your hotel. Between Palma's belenes, festive lights and time to browse the market, you'll get a good taste of how the city celebrates the season.
