There is much archaeological evidence for this stage in Ptuj's existence, but it gained its quaint appearance in the Middle Ages when it flourished a second time.
Its impressive medieval castle towers over the town, offering panoramic views and holding exceptional collections within it, allowing you to deepen your knowledge and understanding of Slovenian history and culture. You'll meander down into the pretty town, passing Provost Church, the Orpheus' Pillar, and the flamboyant Town Hall. From the quaint to the impressive, you'll head to Slovenia's second-largest city, Maribor. Nestled in the foothills of Pohorje, this city has a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for spending an afternoon exploring. You'll visit the stunning Gothic Cathedral and the main square which is buzzing with life. After discovering the legends of the Franciscan Church and the Town Square, you'll head to the bank of the River Lent to see the oldest vine in the world and to try some wine.
