Experience an authentic city tour of East Berlin in the minibus called Buchanka (tin loaf). At the Tränenpalast (Palace of Tears) at Friedrichstraße station, board the Buchanka. During the division of Berlin, many tears flowed here as families separated by the Berlin Wall said goodbye.
The next stop on the city tour is the Berlin Wall Memorial on Bernauer Strasse, the only place where you can experience the former border strip in its full dimension.
After that, you will head to Ernst Thälmann Park in Prenzlauer Berg, with its high-rise buildings and the huge Ernst Thälmann Monument. The city tour continues to two more prestigious urban planning projects of the GDR: the former Lenin Square and Karl-Marx-Allee, which impresses with architecture between Soviet confectionery style and socialist modernism. At the Kino International and Café Moskau, the flair of East Berlin in the 1960s comes alive. At the end of the tour you will be brought back to Friedrichstraße station.
