Travel back in time to the days of togas and chariots with this private half-day tour to the ancient sites of Perga and Aspendos. Among the attractions you'll discover is perhaps the best-preserved Roman theatre of all.

First on the history hitlist is the classical city of Perga. This once-bustling Roman port was founded around 1300 BC and the first stop for St Paul on his missionary journeys around the Mediterranean. Take a guided tour, stepping through the triumphal Roman gate to admire the ruined temples, marketplace and fountains. On the column-lined main street, you can even see the grooves in the flagstones created by chariot wheels. There's also a 12,000-seater stadium and the remnants of a Bronze Age acropolis.

Next, we go to Aspendos to see one of the best-preserved theatres from antiquity. Built 2,000 years ago into a steep hillside and big enough for 15,000 spectators, its perfect acoustics mean that it's still used for operas and concerts today.

A visit to Butterfly World in the morning is complemented by your trip to the Antalya Aquarium in the afternoon, with hotel pick-ups and transfers all included for a seamless day of fun. You'll begin with two hours exploring Butterfly World. You'll walk through a huge indoor butterfly house that feels like a tropical rainforest. 20,000 sets of delicate wings flutter freely around you as you make your way through the different mini habitats. You could see up to 40 different species among the tropical plants, streams and waterfalls. There's plenty to learn about the lifecycle and behaviours of these beautiful bugs on your self-guided visit, and you can take your time, lingering for longer at the spots that catch your attention.At around midday there's a half-hour transfer to the Antalya Aquarium, where you'll have around three hours. At the aquarium, you'll dive into the world beneath the waves, seeing an impressive variety of Mediterranean marine life. A great way to make your holiday more memorable is to visit a different resort for the day. Mix it up with some time in Alanya to enjoy the excellent shopping, scenery and beaches, plus a photo stop at Alanya Panorama Point for iconic views of this pretty part of the world.We'll kick off the day with a visit to a jewellery centre, which offers a wide selection of fine jewellery and watches. Next, we'll continue on to Alanya, a picturesque resort town known for its castle, great beach, and popular shopping areas. The photo stop at the Alanya Panorama Point gives you a chance to capture views of the town, and your guide will point out some of the highlights of Alanya on the way into town.Once in the heart of the town, you'll have plenty of free time to explore under your own steam. Stroll the narrow streets of the old town, visit the castle, or relax on the beach. There's also the option to visit Damlatas museum or Anlanya museum during your free time, or perhaps you'll decide to take a ride on the scenic Alanya cable car. Shops and boutiques offer a wide variety of goods, including traditional Turkish textiles, leather products, and souvenirs.
