The inside story
The L-shaped Lange Voorhout is a street in the old city center of The Hague that is regarded as one of the best urban of town planning in Europe. The road features a wide walking path lined with linden trees that were first planted by Emperor Charles V, inspired the layout of Berlin's great boulevard Unter den Linden.
The particular L-shape design began to take form in the 15th-century and by the 18th-century its shaded avenues were flanked by aristocrat residences. Today the was the Lange Voorhout is home to ambassadors and cultural institutions including the Diligentia theatre and the Escher museum.
