Take the chance to catch your breath in the silent immensity of Lapland nature while experiencing a traditional activity that loved by many locals.
After pick up, you will receive some proper winter clothing and boots (it can be very cold on the lake!) and your guide will drive to a spot from where you will take a short 5-10 minute walk through the old arctic forests. Suddenly you will reach an immense open area made of ice and snow. Find a promising spot and your guide will show you how to drill your own hole in the ice, and teach you the basic techniques on how to ice-fish. Then, it is just a matter of time and patience before you can feel the first bites! This is just the perfect moment to appreciate the silent wilderness spreading all around you.
Your guide will always be there to assist you, in case you would need help or feel cold. While you are fishing, they will chop wood and prepare a fire on the shores for you. Enjoy some typical Finnish snacks and hot drinks around the fire and ask your guide all your questions about life in the Arctic and Lapland in general. If you are lucky to catch a fish (of a decent size), your guide will happily prepare it, cook it straight over the fire and add it to the menu of the day. If the fish are undersized, they will quickly return them to the ice without unnecessarily harming them.
