What to expect

The Coral Riviera is well-known for its rich marine life and colourful underwater gardens. On this tour, you'll sail to Capo Caccia to snorkel in Porto Conte, a protected marine park, and cruise past pristine beaches bathed in golden sunshine. You'll then round it off with a tasting of local sparkling Akenta wine.

The beauty of this tour is that you'll avoid the long navigation from Alghero, and instead cast off in a dinghy boat from Porto Conte bay so you'll soon arrive at your first snorkelling stop. Porto Conte marine reserve is home to hundreds of Mediterranean fish, so once you've dived in, keep your eyes peeled for grouper fish, pincer lobster and conger eels as well as red coral formations and margarita flowers – it's an idyllic snorkelling location.

And it doesn't end there, once you're back on dry land, you'll taste and learn about Akenta, a careful selection of grapes from Vermentino di Sardegna DOC. The incredible thing about this wine is that it's left to age – and get its bubbles – underwater in Porto Conte.

    Pompeii Half-day Tour

Of all the Roman ruins in Italy, none is as poignant or fascinating as Pompeii. Buried under volcanic ash by the 79 AD eruption of Mt Vesuvius – which still looms large in the distance – Pompeii brings to life ancient Rome. You'll tread the cobbled streets brought to life by a guided commentary through headsets. All the major highlights here are covered – the forum, thermal baths, gymnasium and the market piazzas. You can still see frescoes on the walls of the homes of the Roman elite. Walking through its ruins is like leafing through the pages of a living history book.

Ischia & La Mortella Gardens Tour

Dominated by Mt Epomeo, Ischia's a small but mountainous island off the northern tip of the Bay of Naples. With blossoming gardens, spa towns and jaw-dropping scenery, it also makes for a delightful day trip from Sorrento. First up is the hydrofoil crossing from Sorrento to Ischia, where you'll take a panoramic drive to see its highlights. In the afternoon it's on to the subtropical La Mortella Gardens. Created by English composer William Walton and his wife, they feature more than 300 rare and exotic plants, along with ornate statues and waterfalls. Then, enjoy more free time until it's time to board the boat again.

    A Taste of Naples

Naples is rich in heritage and culinary culture – and this tour combines both to give you a real taste of the city. Stroll past the Royal Palace, the church of San Francesco di Paola in Piazza del Plebiscito and towards the lavish Galleria Umberto I as well as Europe's oldest opera house. Our destination is the loud and proud Pignasecca street market and the narrow Spaccanapoli – the 2km-long alley that bisects the old town – while munching on a ‘cuoppo di frittura' during the walk. There's also the chance to try sfogliatella pastry. On the way back, there's a tasting at a limoncello factory.

Sant'Angelo Cookery Class and Thermal Spa

This full day tour takes you to explore the seaside town of Sant'Angelo. And once you arrive, you'll get stuck in with a guided walk and an exclusive cooking class in the kitchens of the Apollon Club. And what sets this place apart is the fact they use fumaroles – hot steam from underground – to cook the dishes you'll prepare for lunch, which include fresh pasta and a typical fish dish accompanied by wine. Afterwards, relax in the complex of thermal pools that overlook Fumarole Bay before it's time to hop on an electric golf buggy that'll transfer you through the centre to where the bus will be waiting.
