The inside story
Come and see those dancing feet! In New York City, there’s no better place to find hit new musicals, restaurants, and shops than in the Big Apple’s Theater District. Located along Broadway, the area features spectacular crowds and vibrant entertainment composed of over 40 theaters and musical venues, record labels and television studios.
The performing arts culture rose to fame in New York back in 1750 when Thomas Kean and Walter Murray opened a theater on Nassau Street. The first shows that were introduced to New Yorkers were Shakespearian plays and operas. It wasn't until the early 1900s that theaters began being built in Times Square.
