Embark on an exhilarating journey into the heart of Dhofar Mountains, aboard a 4X4 vehicle. As the sun rises, you'll traverse through the charming village of Taqah, pausing for a photo stop to capture the panoramic view from the cliff-top known as Taqah Plateau.
The adventure continues with a visit to the historic Taqah Castle, a 19th-century fortress that until 1970 served as the office and residence of the Wali of Taqah. Here, you'll get a glimpse into the old Omani way of life, with exhibits showcasing everything from prison cells, reception hall, guard’s room to watchtowers and the family quarters of the Wali. Next, you'll venture into the verdant Wadi Darbat, where you can stroll along the Wadi bed amidst herds of camels, goats, and cattle. During the Khareef season, you might even witness a spectacular 100m natural waterfall cascading into numerous lakes amidst flourishing vegetation.
The next stops include one of the world's largest sinkholes (211 m deep and 150 m in diameter) at Tawi Attair, also known as the "Well of Birds", and the mountain range of Jebel Samhan. At almost 1700m high, this plateau offers a complete view of the east coast on one side and the vast Qara mountain range on the other. Known as the "Grand Canyon of Dhofar", it's a sight that will leave you absolutely spellbound.
