The inside story
Saint Mary's Basilica is a large brick church located in Kraków's Main Market Square - with its most noticeable architectural feature being two towers of different heights. Originally constructed in the 13th century, the church was completely destroyed by the Tartar raids and rebuilt in the 13th century in the Gothic-style.
Inside the UNESCO World Heritage Site visitors will marvel at St Mary's wooden altarpiece, stained-glass windows and breathtaking blue starred ceiling. In the summer months, you can climb the tower for panoramic views of the city below and don't forget to listen for the hourly bugle call from the taller tower.
