The inside story

The Dijon Museum of Fine Arts is located in the eastern wing of the former Dukes of Burgundy's palace since 1787. It is is one of France's most prestigious museums, boasting an impressive and ever-growing collection of 150,000 artworks, spread over 50 rooms.

Exploring it, you'll find paintings, sculptures, drawings and decorative artworks by artists dating back from Antiquity to the contemporary era through the Renaissance. The artists featured are Italian, Flemish, Swiss and German artists. To name a few: Delacroix, Titian, Champaigne, Géricault, Manet and Monet; as well as Burgundian artists like François Rude and Jean-Baptiste Lallemand.

The museum's centerpiece is undoubtedly its impressive palace hall. Made in 15th century Flamboyant Gothic style, it's home to the tombs of the Dukes of Burgundy, Philip the Bold and John the Fearless, both masterpieces of medieval funerary art.

Free entry to the permanent collections is available year-round.

The museum regularly hosts various themed tours, creative and fun activities, and night events.
