Forget sunning yourself on a strip of sand – this trip will see you don a wetsuit and get to grips with scuba diving. You'll start by learning the basics before grabbing your gear and heading for Mar Menuda beach – one of the best spots in Catalonia for diving.
This half-moon cove is a big hit with divers thanks to its clear waters and calm tides, and once you've donned your wetsuit, you'll soon be beneath the waves yourself. Your instructor will take you out a little way to get started, with the rocky outcrops and medieval castle of Tossa de Mar over your shoulder. Total immersion time will be about an hour.
After you've explored the underwater rocks and spotted a few colourful fish, it's back to dry land where you'll get a certificate to mark the occasion. The whole thing takes about half a day, so it's a great introduction to scuba diving.
