Your guide will take you to see the most important monuments and spots located around Attica just outside of Athens.
You'll reach mount Penteli and the ancient marble quarries. The marble taken from here was used to build the Parthenon, the temples of Zeus, Poseidon and almost all of the well-known statues. The cave of Penteli was a temple of the god Pan in the ancient past. There are endless conspiracy theories about this cave which you'll hear about from your guide.
You'll stop by the Marathon battlefield, the starting point for marathons where the Athenian soldier Phidipedes ran from there to Athens, a distance of 42km to announce the victory against the Persians in 490 BC.
At the Vravrona archaeological site you will visit the temple of Artemis, according to ancient Athenians this was one of the three highest energy fields in Attica. Afterwards you'll head off to Sounio to view the temple of Poseidon.
Driving down the coastal road back to Athens, you'll make a small stop at the Lake Vouliagmeni, one of the strangest natural phenomena in Greece before visiting the port at Piraeus where the Battle of Salamis took place and where the naval General Themistocles' tomb is located.
