In Silves, the former Moorish capital, you can visit the oldest part of the city where the largest castle in the Algarve and the oldest Cathedral are located. Climb the Serra de Monchique to Fóia, visiting the highest point of the Algarve, with time for spectacular photos. On your way down, you'll have time to make a stop for lunch.
In the afternoon you'll visit Lagos, where sightseeing includes the former slave market dating back to the 15th century, the golden church of Santo António, the fortress and the old town. The tour continues to Cabo de São Vicente, the most south-western point of Europe, once known as "the end of the world". Landmarks include the great lighthouse, the great fishing port of Baleeira, and the fortress of Sagres, formerly home to the School of Navigation founded by Prince Henry the Navigator.
