Your tour to Mtskheta, the first capital of Georgia starts at 10:00 am. You will visit the UNESCO Heritage sites of Jvari Monastery, a sixth century Georgian Orthodox monastery near Mtskheta, in eastern Georgia, and Svetitskhoveli Church, an Eastern Orthodox cathedral and a masterpiece of the Early Middle Ages. It is currently the second largest church building in Georgia.
You will then continue your drive to Gori and to Uplistsikhe, which is an ancient rock-hewn town. Built on the high rocky left bank of Mtkvari River, it contains various structures dating from the Early Iron Age to the Late Middle Ages, and is renown for the unique combination of various styles of rock-cut cultures from Anatolia to Iran, as well as the co-existence of pagan and Christian architecture.
On your way back you will pass by Mukhrani village, visiting the estate of Chateau Mukhrani. It is the first and the only true Georgian Royal Chateau, which unites four key components: vineyards, a winery, a castle and history. In 1512 Mukhrani became the prince’s estate, governed by the Bagrationi royal family. You will tastie wine in the Chateau and tour around the wine factory.
In the evening you will return back to Tbilisi, you will be dropped back to your accommodation or at any other place of your preference.
