Cross the Nile to the East Bank for lunch, where you’ll try local Egyptian delicacies before your final stop on this adventure into the ancient world. Karnak Temple is a little misleading as a name, as it’s actually a vast, sprawling religious complex of temples, chapels, statues and obelisks. It was built to worship Amun, the king of the gods and his wife and son, and each ancient dynasty expanded it over a 2,000-year period.
